Sometimes blessings in life come in ways we don’t expect or plan. Most often, God uses those blessings to teach us about Himself and bring us joy in the unexpected.

My biggest boy has an extra chromosome (Down syndrome), alopecia, and is a recent recruit to a gluten-free lifestyle. We do life the best we can, although our journey might be a little different than some families and certainly not perfect. We do things together: lots of laughing, some crying, lots of praying, lots of eating, and lots of boy stuff. My biggest boy doesn’t let anything hold him back, even when we wish he would. He’s always genuine in his words and always grateful whenever he receives a gift. He has a gift of instilling humility to the unsuspecting adult or parent of his, whether you want it or not.
